Shooting near anti-racism rally

Usually I try to photograph the International Day Against Racism rally, but (sigh) I had to work today.  After work I decided to do a fog inspired photo walkabout downtown and came upon this taped off scene on Centre Street, between 7th and 8th Avenues.  A police officer guarding the area said he could not tell me what had happened, only that "it will probably be on tonight's news."  I asked if it had anything to do with with filming a movie or TV show and he said, "No, it isn't Fargo."

I wandered around a bit and captured a police photographer doing his job.

The CBC News website had a photo of the pro-white rabble-rouser on their site.  It wasn't anyone I've seen at any protest I've photographed.  He might have been a white supremacist deliberately baiting the rally participants or one of the downtown regulars off his meds (or overly self-medicated).  I don't know.  I'm sure it will come out in the news eventually.

This is the second police involved shooting this week. A drug induced young man lost control at a hotel a couple of days ago. Yesterday a 16 year old girl was killed in a hit and run not far from my home.  Is this becoming life as usual in the big city?

Here are a few other photos (some a little bubbly) also taken downtown after work.
